Sullivan

I've already posted about Sullivan, but this is a plea for him. I've been praying for him and I ask that you pray for him also. He really needs a family, and right now, he's $20,000 and a long way from it. I pray that you will donate for him, so that someone will bring him home.

My Sponsored Kids at OneTrueMedia.com

This is a video of all the kids I'm sponsoring

Jordan

Another little boy has come to my attention to be sponsored. His name is Jordan.
"Jordan (36)
BOY, born April, 2005
SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!
Jordan is a handsome young man with brown hair and brown eyes. He was born with arthrogryposis, like many of our other waiting children! He is described as a very loving, calm, and happy boy...shy and quiet sometimes, but very intelligent and clever! His medical records indicate: Flextion contracture of ulnar, osseous, genu and shine joints. Arthrogryposis clubfoot. Jordan will be institutionalized and remain bedridden for life...he needs a family quickly!
I have $25 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!"

Welcome

Hey, welcome to Pot of Gold! Look through the posts and please donate to one of the kids. I'll be keeping updates and new pictures about the kids, so check up often!

Shaun

Sure, Shaun's a little special. He's an orphan with a cleft issue that wants and deserves a family as much as anyone else. He has a last chance from Reece's Rainbow.
"Shaun (Region 3)
Boy, Born November 2007
This darling little boy is waiting for his forever family. He struggles with significant cleft issues and facial deformities. He also struggles with kidney problems. From his medical records, they indicate that he has Edwards Syndrome, also known as Trisomy 18. This is quite a challenge, and most children do not survive past birth. We do not know if he has any of the other complications, but he clearly has many of the facial features and cognitive delays.
Maybe there is a super special family out there who will give Shaun a chance to really shine, and be all God intends for him to be!
I have $190 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!"

Evan

I am lucky to have more than one picture of Evan.
Evan (20)
Boy, Born June 12, 2003
Diagnosis: cerebral palsy, epileptic syndrome, significant mental Retardation. Unable to walk, spastic/tight muscles. Evan is blessed to still be at the baby house (as of March 2010), but once he is transferred, he will spend the rest of his short life bedridden. Please consider being a loving family for Evan!

Kiril

Kiril is one of my oldest sponsor kids, and one of the neediest, as he is in a mental institution.
"Kiril # 3 (1)
Boy, Born January 20, 2004
This spunky little angel is ready to melt your heart! Kiril has blonde hair and hazel eyes, and a smile that can light up a room! He was born with cerebral palsy. One of our own adoptive families who visited with him in March 2008 said this about Kiril: " IĆ¢€™m a sucker for blondies and this little guy with his green-brown eyes is adorable! He smiled and wanted to interact with me when I came into the room despite the cries of his neighbor. His smiles were brief but heartwarming and then he was curious about what I was up to. Each time the camera flashed he rewarded it with a great grin! Except it was always right AFTER the flash so I couldn't capture his sweet smile."
NEW UPDATE!: What a blessing to still have visibility of Kirill, and know he is still fighting for a chance and waiting for his family to come for him. He is regressing, as he is given little opportunity to stretch or be mobile at all. He needs help for the strength to sit up now, but even still he wears a smile and a light in his eyes. There is a loving, forever family out there for this boy!
From his medical records: infantile cerebral paralysis, double hemiplegia, epilepsy, optic nerve atrophy, multiple cardiopathies, contracture of hip and knee joints
As with all children living in these difficult conditions, this child's cognitive development has regressed significantly since he/she was younger. It is of crucial importance that any family considering the adoption of an older child from the mental institution setting be well prepared for what to expect with regards to how the neglect and lack of adequate medical care and nourishment has affected this child. These children all have TREMENDOUS potential for improvement, and deserve to have a life outside these four walls.
These children are truly living on borrowed time, and families should be home study approved before an official commitment can be made for this child."

Glenn

"Mommy, I can hear you coming to get me!" That's what I think he's saying.

"Glenn (1)
Boy, Born August 16, 2003
Gleen has blonde hair and blue eyes. He struggles with the effects of FAS. With this comes strabismus and a valvular heart defect. Despite this, he is doing well, mobile and active and friendly.
From his medical records: Cross-eyes, congenital defect of the heart(valvular disease)
Masha

Masha is such a pretty name, and a pretty little girl too!
"Masha (9)
Girl, Born January 10, 2007
Photo dated Feb 2010. This beautiful muffin.....Masha struggles with many symptoms of FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome).
From her medical records: Diagnosis: mother had syphilis and was alcohol addict, congenital malformation of nervous system, encephalitis, secondary hydrocephaly, mental disorders as a result of organic affection of brain, chronic pyelonephritis, congenital malformation of genital system - reflex uropathy, crossed eyes. She HAS been tested for syphilis and is NEGATIVE, even though her mother was carrying at the time of her birth. This little one has so much potential, even though her records make her sound like she's in a vegetative state (which she clearly isn't!) My goodness, what a loving family can do for her, she will truly blossom!
Her strabismus has gotten worse, and at 3 she is still not walking. Masha needs a family to help her be all she can be!
If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition. Just as with Down syndrome, FAS and FAE have a wide variation of effects on each child, both medically, physically, and cognitively. This is typically dependent on how long during the pregnancy the mother consumed alcohol, and of course, how much. There is no way to know this ahead of time.
Regrettably, this orphanage is one of the poorer ones, with very little outside aid and very little hope. All of the children are tiny and undernourished. These children are immediately transferred at 4, and have little chance of survival where they are sent. All of our waiting children need families, but these have a critical need. Please consider one of these children soon!!
I have $0 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!"

Arlene

Her name 'Arlene', reminds me of 'Ariel'. Doesn't she look lika an Arial?
"Arlene "(Anja)
"Girl, Born June 2, 2006

Anja was born premature at just 28 weeks gestation. She had several medical complications at birth as a result of her prematurity. She is diagnosed with Spastic Cerebral Palsy which affects her hips, legs and feet. Both of her feet are turned in slightly as a result and photos are available. Despite this, she is able to stand with assistance to move around and is actually standing in all of the photos that we have of her! She is followed by an orthopedic doctor and does receive physical therapy 5 days a week at the orphanage. Her feet would most likely benefit from a tenotomy (tendon release). Her medical report also indicates dilatation of renal pelvis (enlarged kidney). She has had numerous urinary tract infections which are treated with medication. She sees a nephrologist (kidney specialist) to monitor this and to ensure that no further treatment is needed. Medication is subscribed to treat urinary tract infections and constipation as needed. Her development is listed as delayed. She is happy and her psychologist believes that most of her mental delays are due to the lack of therapy, lack of early intervention and from living in an orphanage. It is believed that Anja will make great progress in a family. I have $0 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!"

Monroe

I call him "Money":
Monroe (12)
BOY, Born February 4, 2005
SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!
Monroe is a sunshine of a little boy! He is already 5 and blessed to still be at the baby house. He needs a family right away! From an adoptive family who visited with him in June 2009:
Monroe has CP. It appears that he is unable to use his arms and legs and is not sitting up on his own. He has the most beautiful smile and I don't think there is much of a cognitive delay. He loves to be held and his whole face lights up when you come near him."
I have $62 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

Maxim

A little boy who caught my attention with his smile!
"Maxim--region 15
Boy, Born 2002

Oh, how this little boy melts my heart! Just look at his smile! He is very high functioning, and will do very well in a lvoing family environment. He has been blessed to grow up in a baby house and privately run home for children with special needs, and he has been LOVED. He has many advocates and volunteers who love him dearly, and have asked us to please help him find a family!
It is possible he has Mosaic Down syndrome. We are waiting on his full medical records. But he is very healthy, active, social...just a love!! From his caregivers and friends: "Expectant parents need to prepare for Maxim difficulties and learn to accept it for what it is: hooligan, a little jealous, but very good-natured and charming. Maxim respectable hoodlum, may, for example, to climb into adult shoes (larger size, the merrier) and enthusiastically stomping down the corridor until you catch up. Loves to joke. In its immediacy and sunny smile forgiven all hooliganism. Given his state of health, Maxim has good prospects for further development. He can not speak, but communicates well with the world through gestures and some of the sounds, knows the names of colors and geometric shapes, animal names, colors, fruits and vegetables, loves to play around with toys, loves being read poems and fairy tales. Maxim is very housewifely, helps with cleaning. He needs a home where it will and will love. And it is impossible not to love. "

Lena

A special girl named Lena with severe cerebral palsy:

"Lena (36)
Girl, Born November 2, 2004
Lena is a beautiful little girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She was born with Down syndrome, but also struggles with the effects of possible CP and likely some autistic tendencies. She is able to walk on her own and is described as very active, but she does not socialize very much with the other children and is non verbal at this time. It is children like Lena that break my heart so badly, because in an institutional setting, which she is facing soon, she will just continue to close off into herself and truly become one of those children we envision as "institutionalized". :( I know there is a family out there for this very deserving little girl!
I have $60 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!"

Dmitriy

Finally a new picture of Dmitriy

The old Picture

This is a little blind boy, Dmitriy:

Dmitriy (4)
Boy, Born December 26, 2005
SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!
Little Dmitriy may not be able to see you, but he can hear you and feel you and wait for you to come for him. He is 2 1/2 years old and was born with only one eye and the other is blind. One of our adoptive families who visited with him in March of 2008 says this of him: " This little guy is very much still a baby, but has very little chance of being adopted because he has no eyes. He was responsive to the caregivers and liked the security of their arms."This new photo is from July of 2008, when Dmitriy was visited by another one of our adoptive families. He is doing amazingly well, considering the fact that he can not see anything at all. He is able to stand on his own now!
There are many families out there hoping to adopt a blind child, maybe Dmitriy will find his "forever family" at the end of Reece's Rainbow!
I have $45 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!

Sullivan

This is Sullivan. As posted on Reece's Rainbow:
"Sullivan (25)
BOY, born October 21, 2005
SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!
Sullivan is as handsome as they come! Blonde hair and bright blue eyes make him so snuggable!
Sullivan was born with a very rare disorder called Arnold-Chiari Syndrome. He is not able to walk, but is very smart, although his speech is delayed. He is not able to walk at this time due to a hip deformation, resulting from his A/C syndrome. He does not speak too well, says seperate words, definitely understands when he is talked to and wants attention. He uses his hands well, plays with toys, can concentrate, he is very sweet and always smiling. I know caketakers just love him and think he is better developed than the rest in his group.
From his medical records: He has syndrome of lower tetraparesis; defect of hip functioning as a result of cerebrospinal hernia of lower chest part; hydrocephaly (had surgery); syndrome of Arnold-Chiari. Mental delay; secondary myocardiopathy; delay of speech development. Sullivan will be sent to a mental institution, and will remain bedridden the rest of his short life. He has very little time left. Now is the perfect time to start your paperwork to save him! Please give Sullivan a chance to know a loving, supportive family!
I have $530 in my grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!"
